Register at cl@ve

Cl@ve It is a system to identify you electronically before the Public Administrations with security guarantees, without having to remember different keys to access the different services.

Before using Cl@ve, you have to register in the system, providing the necessary data:

  • Phone number mobile national or foreign

  • Email

  • If you are Spanish, DNI

  • If you are a foreigner and have NIE:

    • EU citizen registration certificate, alien identity card or residence permit, and also

    • Passport (if you are an EU citizen, you can also identify yourself with the identity document of the country of origin, instead of the passport)

To ensure that only the registered person has access to the PIN codes sent to the mobile phone, only one DNI/NIE can be associated with the same mobile number.

There are 4 ways:

  1. With automatic video identification with the Cl@ve App. Following the instructions of the application, you will get in a few minutes the basic registration level in Cl@ve. In a subsequent process, once the review of electronic evidence (video, identity document and facial biometrics) by an authorized public employee has been successfully completed, you can directly obtain the advanced registration level. Temporarily this service is only offered to Spanish people with valid ID.

  2. Through Internet, without electronic certificate. This type of registration is of basic level and does not allow access to all services. It can be through invitation letter or by video call

  3. Through Internet, with electronic certificate or DNIe (electronic DNI). El registro en Cl@ve a través de internet se realiza en la electronic headquarters of the Tax Agency (AEAT)

  4. Of form in-person. The registration in person is done by going to a registration office Cl@ve

Once you have registered with Cl@ve, there are three possibilities of use:

  • Cl@ve Mobile: System of authentication through notification received on the mobile, without the need to remember any password.
  • Permanent cl@ve: Password system that is valid for a long time (although not unlimited), oriented to users usual.
  • Cl@ve PIN: Password system with very limited validity in time, aimed at users who access with infrequent To the services.

One of the main innovations that the Cl@ve system incorporates is the possibility of making electronic signatures through centralized electronic certificates, that is, electronic certificates stored and safeguarded by the Public Administration.

These centralized certificates, or "cloud certificates", allow citizens to sign electronic documents from any device that has an Internet connection and without the need for an electronic certificate.

To use the centralized signature it is necessary to have previously performed the following steps:

  1. Advanced Level Registration in the Cl@ve system

  2. Activation of the Permanent Cl@ve

  3. Generation of the certificate of signature
