The provincial deputations are the governing and administrative bodies of the province. There are 41 provincial deputies in Spain. Of these, 38 are of common regime and 3 are of foral regime. The Autonomous Communities uniprovincials and in the islands, the Island Councils of the Canary Islands and Island Councils of the Balearic Islands, assume the competences of the Provincial Councils.
