Content
What is the card?
If you have a disability which reduces your mobility, you may be entitled to a European parking card for people with disabilities in your country of residence.
Validity of the card
A European parking card for people with reduced mobility, issued in any EU Member State, is valid in Spain.
The card is personal and non-transferable. It can be used whenever its holder is driving, or travelling in, a vehicle.
Your card must be visibly displayed in your vehicle.
Cardholders’ rights
When you travel in a vehicle, take your European parking card for people with reduced mobility with you. You can park in reserved spaces, usually marked with a wheelchair sign or symbol.
In some places you can also:
- park or stop in loading and unloading bays
- obtain discounts where a parking charge is payable
- access restricted-traffic areas.
You must read the rules of the place where you are going, to find out which of these cases are applicable.
Restrictions on card use and penalties
The European parking card does not entitle the holder to park in pedestrian areas, on pedestrian crossings and in places where it is prohibited to stop or park.
Misuse will be penalised.
How to apply for the card
Apply to your local council for a parking card for people with reduced mobility. They will give you information on the requirements and necessary documentation and an application form.
